I just finished reading Thinking Fast and Slow a few weeks ago -- it's an excellent book! Your reporting of research stating that people can be taught to use System 2 with articles and social media is promising. I yearn for a future where most people are critically literate...
Sometimes I feel hopeless, then I remember that for most of human history nobody understood the laws of probability. I read somewhere that the ancient Romans, for all their genius, did not understand that when they rolled a die they had a 1/6 chance of getting whatever side they wanted. Maybe we can get progress in critical thinking.
