Grandparents, too, should get whooping cough boosters. We both did, when our first grandchild was born.

Yes! People forget how deadly these diseases were and take for granted the immunity we maintain against it.

Agreed. It's hard to comprehend just how dangerous life was before vaccines and other wonders of modern medicine.

I got a tetanus shot about 5 years ago when I fell while running and sliced open my knee. I had no idea it was so "hideous" a disease - I've never known anyone to get it. But the whooping cough shot - I have no idea if I've ever even had the first shot for this, other than perhaps when I was a child about 50 years ago. Thanks for the great info!

Tetanus is up there among the most horrific diseases. I can't imagine how awful it must have been before tetanus vaccines.

A great reminder! I'm up to date on whooping cough and tetanus. As to measles, I know I was vaccinated sometime after 1958 when I was born, but don't know number of times...

It's worth checking. I don't know about where you are but New Zealand's been having measles outbreaks. And it's one of those vaccines that doesn't seem to wane once you are fully protected.

I have my vaccine card somewhere. My mother treated them like precious jewels!
