Beautiful photos. My dad called this landscape “the leonine land”. Glad to know there is ongaonga up there, though it may be too windy for kahukowhai! And I’m thinking it may one day be kiwi country again.
Such beautiful views! I read, years ago, that we humans respond to wide-open vistas like that for evolutionary reasons -- it's comforting to be able to know we're safe and can keep an eye on predators sneaking up on us. But you have Donna for that!

I loved that walk in my (younger and more agile) Wellington days - an absolute treasure for locals.
